Counteracting Stress in the Spring Period

In spring, field, vegetable, fruit crops, and vineyards are constantly subjected to stress due to late frosts, fluctuations in day and night temperatures, pesticide treatments, and more. Each of these stresses can lead to a yield reduction of 10-30%. To support the crops and mitigate the effects of stress factors, specialists at Ukravit recommend using anti-stress agents.

During stress, the absorption of mineral nutrients in crops is disrupted, and physiological processes are inhibited, – notes the head of the product development and microfertilizer services department, Serhiy Adamenko. – The breakdown of proteins exceeds synthesis, and ammonium nitrogen accumulates in toxic amounts, affecting the quality of the final product and the course of physiological processes. The balance of phytohormones changes – the phytohormone ethylene manifests, causing the crop to yellow, inhibiting its growth and development, leading to the depletion of cell walls and cell sap. Additionally, stress reduces resistance to diseases and pests, resulting in “physiological depression.” All this leads to a decrease in yield and quality of the commercial product.”

To help crops overcome the effects of stress and restore their full development, Serhiy Adamenko recommends using the anti-stress fertilizer Avangard Grow Amino. The auxins, gibberellins, and cytokinins in its composition stimulate the development of the root system and the vegetative and generative organs of the crops. Polyethylene glycols prevent the crystallization of cell sap, making cells more elastic, while carbonic acids improve oxygen supply to tissues and make plants more resistant to oxygen starvation, helping retain moisture in cells; crops better withstand both low and high temperatures. Furthermore, the presence of 17 easily absorbable free L-amino acids of plant origin in the fertilizer accelerates metabolic processes and promotes a more intense synthesis of anti-stress substances.

The fertilizer improves protein metabolism, enhances photosynthesis activity, increases sugar content, and boosts osmotic pressure, helping crops absorb moisture from deeper soil layers, making them more resilient to adverse environmental conditions.

It is optimal to apply Avangard Grow Amino before spring frosts along with zinc, potassium, and phosphites. This leads to sugar synthesis, and due to the increased concentration of sugars in the plant, the effects of frost will be mitigated. The same applies to pesticide stress. Fertilizers can also be applied after stress, but it is important to use them no earlier than three days after the stress factor.

Serhiy Adamenko recommends using this fertilizer with microelements, as anti-stress agents act as complexing or chelating agents – ensuring better penetration into the cell and absorption of iron, manganese, zinc, and copper. Thanks to alpha-amino acids, the absorption coefficient of microelements increases to 80-90%.
