Activity of Hidden Weevils Observed in Winter Rapeseed Crops

In winter rapeseed crops, the emergence of hidden weevils from the soil continues, specifically the rapeseed and cabbage stem weevil species. The phytophagous insects have caused slight damage on 6-23% of the surveyed areas, affecting 1-2% of the plants.

This information is provided in a report by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, which notes that in farms of the Khmelnytskyi region, 6-16 seed hidden weevils were caught on yellow traps over a period of three days. At the same time, cruciferous flea beetles were observed in the border strips of the crops, with a density of 0.5-1 individuals per square meter.

Condition of Plants

In Poltava region, the feeding of whiteflies continues, which have infested 4% of the plants; however, the damage is minimal. Earlier, information was also received about methods to protect rapeseed from the negative impact of hidden weevils.
