Algeria Purchases 400,000 Tons of Durum Wheat at International Tender

This is reported by AgroReview
The Algerian state grain agency OAIC has purchased approximately 400,000 tons of durum wheat in an international tender. Although the initial plan was to acquire only 50,000 tons, the country traditionally increases its purchase volumes during bidding, as has happened this time.
Purchase Prices and Delivery Conditions
According to European traders, the price per ton for large shipments delivered by Panamax vessels was approximately $324–327 on C&F terms. For smaller shipments transported by Handymax vessels, the cost was slightly higher—$332–334 per ton.
Wheat Origin and Supply Logistics
“Regarding the origin of the grain, a significant portion of the purchased wheat is likely of Canadian origin, specifically grade #3 Canada Western Amber Durum (CWAD). Additionally, some volumes may be supplied from the USA, indicating a diversification of supply sources.”
The delivery of the purchased wheat will occur in several stages from early November to the end of December. This approach allows Algeria to ensure a steady supply of grain to the domestic market and maintain a stable level of food reserves.
