American Corn Displaces Ukrainian Corn Due to Price Drops and Decreased Demand

Ukrainian corn exporters are facing challenges in global markets due to increased competition from cheaper grain from the USA, Argentina, and Brazil, as well as a decline in demand and falling wheat prices. Currently, the export price of Ukrainian corn ranges from $225 to $228 per ton, while feed wheat in ports has decreased to $210 to $214 per ton.

Export Dynamics and Market Prices
Some major traders have temporarily suspended purchases of corn from Ukraine, awaiting new, more favorable contracts. Their plans are hindered by the increased supply of cheap corn, primarily from the USA, where export volumes rose by 32.2% from May 8 to May 15, reaching 1.72 million tons. Overall, the USA has already exported 45.543 million tons of corn this season.
Ukrainian corn exports in May 2025 decreased to 1.26 million tons, while during the same period last year, 2.36 million tons were exported. In total, since the beginning of the season, Ukraine has sent 19.8 million tons of this crop to foreign markets.
Analysts predict that the price of Ukrainian corn may drop to $215 to $220 per ton in June, although currently, supplies to Asia for July-August are being offered at $244 to $246 per ton.
Prospects for Pea Exports to China
“China is interested in importing Ukrainian peas, the quality and price of which are very attractive.”
During the TREND&HEDGE CLUB event held at the Ukrainian Embassy in China, it was noted that Ukraine has the potential to increase pea exports to China. This could open new opportunities for domestic farmers, especially against the backdrop of competition in the grain segment.
