According to analysts at Oil World, from October to January of the 2025/26 marketing year, canola exports from Australia decreased by 18% compared to the same period last season, reaching 1.86 million tons. This is the lowest figure in the last four years.

Changes in Supply Geography

During this period, the European Union remained the main market for Australian canola. However, shipments to the EU dropped from 1.73 million tons to 1.12 million tons. There were no canola exports to Pakistan at all (previously 342 thousand tons). Meanwhile, there was a significant increase in supplies to the United Arab Emirates — from 54 to 311 thousand tons, to China — from 0 to 185 thousand tons, and to Japan — from 37 to 196 thousand tons.

Monthly Export Dynamics

In January 2026, Australia exported 571 thousand tons of canola, which is less than in December 2025 (602 thousand tons) and significantly lower than the volumes in January 2025 (784 thousand tons). Specifically, 369 thousand tons were sent to EU countries, while in December this figure was 462 thousand tons, and in January of the previous year — 543 thousand tons.

According to Oil World, during October-January of the 2025/26 marketing year, Australian canola exports decreased by 18% compared to the corresponding period of the previous season to 1.86 million tons, marking the lowest figure in the last four years.
