Ivan Pavlish, who served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for over eleven years and is now the founder of the farm enterprise “BRUNAT” and the Batatko brand, has received a grant of $30,000. The funds were provided as part of the support from the Ukrainian Catholic University and Universe Group.

Plans to Launch a Sweet Potato Processing Line

The veteran plans to use the grant funds to create a production line for processing organic sweet potatoes into flour. His goal is to bring a certified product to market by the end of 2026, suitable for sale in large retail chains in the B2B segment.

“I plan to launch a processing line for organic sweet potatoes into flour. I hope to have a finished product with the appropriate certification by the end of 2026, with the possibility of selling goods through retail chains, that is, the B2B segment. We hope that our customers will also buy our flour,” Ivan Pavlish shared.

Seasonal Challenges and Development Prospects

According to Ivan Pavlish, 2025 was the most challenging year of his entire activity. Due to a prolonged cold spring, a significant portion of the sweet potato planting material perished, and he had to purchase additional seedlings. The summer weather conditions also did not favor a good harvest, resulting in lower yield indicators than expected.

Despite the difficulties, the farmer maintains a positive outlook and confidence in the future. He expects to increase yields next year, set up a modern storage facility for sweet potatoes, and launch the processing production line.
