Beet Prices in Ukraine Have Increased 2.5 Times Due to Supply Shortage

The Ukrainian market is experiencing a rapid increase in prices for table beets. According to the analytical project EastFruit, the reason for this rise is a significant reduction in the supply of high-quality products. At the end of April 2025, the price of beets ranges from 22 to 32 hryvnias per kilogram (equivalent to 0.53–0.77 USD), which is 16% higher compared to the end of last week.

Sellers note that purchasing large batches is becoming more difficult, and supermarkets and wholesale companies are already facing a shortage of this product. In a comment to EastFruit, it is stated: “The supply of quality beets is decreasing. This forces producers to raise their selling prices.”
Market Situation and Forecasts
Against the backdrop of limited supply, the market is responding accordingly: over the year, the price of beets has increased on average by 2.5 times. While in April 2024 the average cost fluctuated between 10–12 hryvnias per kilogram, the current price exceeds 30 hryvnias per kilogram in retail.
Market participants predict further price increases. As transitional stocks are nearly exhausted and the new harvest is not expected until at least August, the trend of rising prices is likely to continue into May.
