In the Bukovina region, farmers have completed the soybean harvest on an area of 43.9 thousand hectares, yielding 115.5 thousand tons. The average yield of this crop currently stands at 26.3 quintals per hectare, which exceeds not only last year’s level but also the national average in Ukraine.

Impact of Weather Conditions on Soybean Yield

Experts emphasize that this year’s weather conditions, particularly frequent and prolonged rains, have significantly affected the pace of harvesting and the quality of the collected soybeans. Due to the excessive amount of precipitation, late varieties of plants have shown delays in ripening. Additionally, the increased moisture content of the seeds considerably complicates the processes of threshing and drying the grain.

“Regarding moisture: the optimal level for harvesting soybeans is 13-16%. Exceeding this indicator leads to the risk of self-heating, the appearance of mold, grain spoilage, and increased contamination. According to preliminary estimates, the expected production of this agricultural crop in 2025 will be around 170 thousand tons, which is almost equivalent to last year’s level (171.9 thousand tons with a yield of 24.8 quintals/ha). The current yield in the region is higher than last year’s and the national average,” the report states.

Forecast for Soybean Production in 2025

According to preliminary calculations, in 2025, Bukovina can expect a gross soybean harvest of around 170 thousand tons, which practically corresponds to last year’s result. The average yield of the crop in the region remains consistently high and exceeds the national average, despite the challenging weather conditions of the season.
