China Forecasts Record Corn Harvest of 300 Million Tons in 2025/26 Marketing Year
The Ministry of Agriculture of China has updated its forecast for corn production for the 2025/26 marketing year (October-September), expecting a record volume of 300 million tons. This will be the highest result in the history of official corn harvest records in the country, which have been kept since 1949.

Yield Exceeded Expectations Despite Adverse Weather
Compared to the previous month, the forecast for total corn harvest has been increased by 1.3%. Despite significant rainfall observed in several areas of northern China, the average yield has surpassed previous estimates. This has been made possible by the resilience of agricultural technologies and favorable weather conditions in key regions.
Soybeans: Slight Decrease in Forecast Due to Weather Conditions
Regarding soybean production, the forecast has been slightly reduced to 20.9 million tons. The decrease is associated with the negative impact of unfavorable weather on crops in parts of the northern and southern regions of the country. Meanwhile, in the northeastern provinces, which are the main soybean growing areas, yield levels remain high.
“The Ministry of Agriculture of China has raised the corn production forecast for the 2025/26 marketing year (October-September) to 300 million tons, the highest figure since record-keeping began in 1949.”
