Colored Chicken Eggs Have Emerged in Ukraine as a New Trend in Poultry Farming

Development of the Colored Egg Market in Ukraine
This was shared by Oleg Kholyavko, director of the company “Yevroptakhi,” which specializes in supplying poultry chicks. According to him, the number of such chickens in the country is currently very limited. Chickens that lay colored eggs are raised in France, in the city of Marans, where a special breed called Marans is used. “Our company has the capacity to import only 20,000 heads per month under the terms of cooperation with the supplier. The purchase price of such eggs is about 15 UAH each, which is more expensive than regular white or brown eggs,” Oleg Kholyavko reported.
Advantages and Prospects of Colored Eggs
According to him, colored eggs not only have aesthetic value but are also natural. They contain no chemical dyes and are raised without the addition of artificial coloring agents. This can significantly increase farmers’ profits, as the production of such eggs has a higher added value compared to traditional ones.
“Due to their uniqueness, colored eggs in Europe cost 40-50% more than regular ones,”
Oleg Kholyavko emphasized.
This product is becoming increasingly popular among premium segment consumers. According to the company’s research, over 65% of buyers in Kyiv pay attention to the aesthetics of eggs when choosing, and more than 75% are willing to pay 20% more for an egg with a colored shell. Over 85% of buyers value the eco-friendliness and naturalness of the product.
