In the global pea market, Ukraine does not hold a significant position, as production volumes are quite small. Currently, the price of peas in Qingdao is $372-373 CIF Qingdao. For Ukrainian peas, this price is unacceptable for export to China, as it needs to be $15 higher.

Experts note that the demand for peas remains stable. Although Turkey and Egypt are influenced by Russian raw materials, the European market, particularly Italy, Spain, France, and the Netherlands, continues to remain open to Ukrainian products. A lot of peas are used for fractionation, as well as for processing into starch and protein.

Challenges from Canada and Other Countries

According to Viktor Korobka, due to tariff restrictions from the USA, Canada can supply its products in large vessels to Europe. This will increase competition in the market, as Canadian peas can also compete in the markets of India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan if duty-free imports continue this summer.

Competition in China

In the context of international competition, Ukrainian peas will have to compete with Russian and Australian suppliers. This creates new challenges for domestic producers, who must seek new ways to maintain their positions in the global market.
