Cucumber Prices in Ukraine Rise: Demand Increases Amid Import Restrictions

In Ukraine, the trend of rising cucumber prices continues, observed for the second consecutive week. Analysts report that greenhouse vegetable producers are successfully raising prices due to increased demand for this product. In particular, retail chains and large wholesale companies are showing special interest in purchasing cucumbers.

Moreover, it is worth noting that the supply of imported cucumbers has significantly decreased, allowing Ukrainian greenhouse complexes to raise their prices. As of today, cucumbers from domestic greenhouses are sold in the range of 95-140 UAH per kilogram (2.29-3.37 USD per kg), which is on average 12% more expensive than at the end of last working week.
Impact of Weather and Product Quality
Experts point out that this week the volume of cucumber harvests in greenhouses has decreased due to unfavorable weather conditions. Against this backdrop, the demand for cucumbers remains high, as consumers are often dissatisfied with the quality of imported products and prefer domestic goods.
Price Comparison with Last Year
Despite the latest price increase, cucumber prices in Ukraine today remain, on average, 10% lower than during the same period last year.
