Decrease in Australian Wheat Exports in February 2025

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in February 2025, Australian wheat exports amounted to 2.09 million tons, which is lower compared to the same period in 2024, when 2.29 million tons were shipped. This indicates a reduction in the export volumes of this grain crop from the country at the beginning of the year.

Overall, in February 2025, 52.5 thousand tons of hard wheat (durum) were delivered to Algeria. Additionally, over 200 thousand tons of grain were shipped in containers, with the main recipients being countries in Southeast Asia. Thailand received 42.7 thousand tons, Vietnam — 33.6 thousand tons, and Indonesia — 30.3 thousand tons.
Regarding bulk shipments, the majority — 1.88 million tons — were sent in this manner. The largest importers of bulk wheat were the Philippines with 460.9 thousand tons, Indonesia with 307.2 thousand tons, and Thailand with 306.4 thousand tons.
Experts’ Forecasts for Future Export Volumes
Analysts at Lachstock Consulting predict that in March 2025, wheat exports from Australia may reach around 2.39 million tons, with further growth expected in April to 2.53 million tons. This trend reflects a gradual increase in shipment volumes in the exchange sector.
