Increase in Foreign Currency Earnings and Main Markets

In monetary terms, egg exports in 2025 brought Ukraine $205.8 million, which is 2.8 times more than in 2024. The largest buyers of Ukrainian eggs were Spain (18.8% of total exports), the United Kingdom (14.1%), and the Czech Republic (11%). Overall, from January to November, Ukrainian farmers supplied 1.88 billion eggs to foreign markets.

Challenges for the Industry: Quality and the Impact of War

Despite the incident regarding the quality of chicken eggs in September 2025, when the French egg industry organization (CNPO) reported the possible presence of banned antibiotics in the product, Ukraine managed to maintain and even expand its presence in the European market. Sergey Karpenko, the executive director of the “Union of Poultry Farmers of Ukraine,” noted that the information in European media was presented inaccurately, and Ukrainian eggs with antibiotics did not reach French supermarkets.

“The incident was somewhat distorted in the European press, and batches of Ukrainian eggs with antibiotic residues could not reach French supermarkets.”

In 2024, egg production in Ukraine reached 11.6 billion pieces, which is 1.8% more than in 2023. This allowed for meeting both domestic demand and export supplies. The industry continues to develop despite losses in capacity due to the war, especially in the southern and eastern regions. Kyiv region remains the leader in production volumes, while key importers of Ukrainian eggs include the Netherlands, Israel, Poland, and Italy.

Although the industry has not yet reached pre-war levels, producers demonstrate the ability to adapt to challenging conditions, maintaining stable demand for Ukrainian eggs both in domestic and foreign markets. This recovery contributes to strengthening the country’s food security and supporting the economy.
