Market Status and Import Prospects

Egypt remains the largest wheat importer in the world. Its purchases are closely monitored in the global market as a key indicator of demand and the competitiveness of leading exporters. The U.S. Department of Agriculture forecasts that in the current season, wheat imports to Egypt could reach a record 13 million tons.

In October, Egypt already made significant purchases, acquiring around one million tons of wheat, including from the Black Sea region, as well as from France and Kazakhstan. Deliveries under these contracts are expected to occur by early December.

At the end of last year, the Mostakbal Misr agency took on the responsibilities of the state importer, replacing the General Authority for Supply of Agricultural Products (GASC). According to the latest data, the available wheat stocks in Egypt will be sufficient until the end of February 2026.
