Export Prices for Feed Barley in Ukraine Reach New Seasonal High

A new seasonal record has been set in the Ukrainian feed barley market: over the past week, export demand prices have increased by another 50-100 UAH/t, reaching 10,400-10,500 UAH/t or 217-220 $/t delivered to Black Sea ports. Thus, the current price levels have surpassed the previous high established at the beginning of the season.

Rising Logistics Costs and Their Impact on Supply

A decisive factor in the reduction of grain supply from producers has been the significant increase in logistics costs: both truck and rail transportation to the ports have risen by 10-20% over the month, which translates to an additional 200-400 UAH/t. As a result, farmers are refraining from active sales, anticipating a decrease in transportation tariffs, which typically occurs after the harvest of late crops. This is expected to contribute to the resumption of active export shipments of barley, wheat, and corn.

At the same time, demand for malting barley remains minimal. Malt producers report fierce competition from European suppliers and a lack of opportunities to sell expensive Ukrainian malt in foreign markets.

International Tender and Global Market Situation

“According to European traders, the state grain buyer of Jordan, MIT, within the framework of an international tender on November 5, purchased 60,000 tons of feed barley of unspecified origin (out of the planned 120,000 tons) from Bunge, with delivery in the first half of January 2026 at a price of 269.25 $/t C&F, slightly exceeding the purchase price at the end of August – 264.25 $/t C&F.”

Additionally, during the tender, offers were recorded from leading international traders such as Cargill (267.74 $/t), Dreyfus (266.00 $/t), Ameropa (275.00 $/t), Olam (269.50 $/t), and Agrocorp (276.00 $/t) C&F. The rise in purchase prices in the global market contributes to maintaining high price levels for feed barley in Ukraine as well.
