Export Prices for Rapeseed in Ukraine Decrease Due to Reduced Demand in the EU

In Ukraine, a decrease in export prices for rapeseed has been recorded following a period of significant growth that lasted for the past month. The reason for this decline is the drop in rapeseed quotations on the Paris exchange, which has negatively impacted the domestic market of the country.

Impact of the Situation on the European Market
After prices rose to 550 USD per ton, rapeseed delivered to Ukrainian ports now costs 530–540 USD per ton, or 24,500–25,500 UAH per ton. However, the strengthening of the dollar against the hryvnia supports the hryvnia prices at a fairly high level.
Over the past two weeks, oil prices have fallen by 12%, leading to a decrease in demand for biofuels in European Union countries. This, in turn, has intensified pressure on rapeseed prices in Europe. A significant reduction in rapeseed processing volumes in the EU in the second half of the 2024/25 season could lead to the accumulation of last year’s harvest, which further affects the quotations of new crop futures.
Dynamics of Rapeseed Futures
August rapeseed futures on the Paris exchange have decreased by 6.4% over the past two weeks, now standing at 462.75 euros per ton (546 USD per ton). The decline over the month has been 2.5%. At the same time, November futures remain at a high level — 481.75 euros per ton, although they have decreased by 3.6% over the past two weeks. The premium of November futures over August has increased to 19 euros per ton.
