Threat to Life from Mining and Drone Attacks
According to the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, 17 agricultural workers have already died in the region due to explosions from explosive devices and attacks by Russian drones, while another 43 have been injured. The official emphasized that despite the danger, the authorities do not have the right to prohibit farmers from pursuing their work, but they continuously urge farmers to refrain from activities in hazardous zones.
“In the region, 17 farmers have died due to explosions from explosives and attacks by Russian drones, and another 43 have been injured. This is the price of the harvest grown on Kherson land. However, we cannot prohibit people from doing their work. I have spoken with many farmers, trying to convey my point of view, but I can convince some, and some I cannot”
Scope of Surveys and Financial Support for the Agricultural Sector
Oleksandr Prokudin also reported that nearly 90% of agricultural land on the right bank of the Kherson region has already been surveyed. Additionally, over the past three years, the agricultural sector has received about 1 billion UAH from the state budget and international aid. These funds have been directed towards subsidies, grants, compensations, and other support mechanisms that enable farmers to sow fields despite the challenging security situation.
