Over the past week, weather conditions in key agricultural countries around the world have significantly impacted the sowing process and the development of field crops. In the USA, the main regions for soybean and corn cultivation experienced heavy rainfall. Although the intense downpours delayed sowing, they positively affected soil moisture levels. In the Southern Plains and the Midwest, the rains replenished moisture reserves, and warm, dry weather is expected next week, which will facilitate faster sowing and plant growth. In the Northern Plains, the precipitation alleviated moisture deficits, creating optimal conditions for sowing spring wheat.

Weather Changes in Ukraine and the Black Sea Region

In Ukraine, rain and cooler temperatures have been observed since the weekend, positively affecting winter crops and aiding in the sowing and emergence of spring crops. Currently, 60% of the area has been sown with spring crops, and the expected rainfall of 10–15 mm over the week will help accelerate fieldwork. However, despite significant improvements, to fully overcome the moisture deficit, up to 150 mm of rainfall is needed, while the May norm is 35–75 mm. In the Black Sea region, the dry conditions last week allowed winter wheat plantings to develop actively, and with the arrival of the rainy front, the condition of both winter and spring crops will further improve, particularly in the southwestern part of Russia.

Situation in South America, Europe, and Australia

In Brazil, rains continue ahead of the dry season. In the central and northern regions, they have concluded the rainy season, significantly replenishing water reserves, which has created ideal conditions for pollination and grain filling of the second corn crop. This has also set the stage for the upcoming sowing of winter wheat. Additional rainfall is likely in the southern regions of the country.

In Argentina, dry weather prevailed last week, allowing for accelerated sowing of soybeans and corn, while rain is expected in the coming days to improve conditions for winter wheat sowing.

In the Prairies of Canada, warm and dry weather is forecasted to continue, promoting more intensive sowing of canola and spring wheat.

In Europe, a dry week provided favorable conditions for sowing spring crops, and over the weekend, rains in the southeastern regions replenished soil moisture reserves.

In Australia, most agricultural regions are still suffering from a lack of rainfall needed to complete sowing and develop crops. However, some areas in the west and New South Wales received light rains, which partially improved the situation.
