Forecast of Apple Price Decline in Ukraine During Harvest Season

Significant price reductions for apples are expected in Ukrainian supermarkets and markets over the coming weeks. During the mass harvest, the price of this fruit may drop to 30–40 UAH per kilogram.

Reasons for Record Apple Prices in 2024

In the first half of 2024, apple prices in Ukraine reached a record 100 UAH per kilogram. This situation arose due to increased storage costs for fruits in controlled atmosphere refrigeration, as well as a sharp rise in electricity prices. Additionally, the market experienced a shortage of quality apples after winter, which also affected product prices.

Apple Price Forecast for 2025

According to the Head of the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers of Ukraine, Volodymyr Pechko, prices traditionally decrease with the onset of the harvest season. However, by the beginning of winter, apple prices may rise again, reaching 70–80 UAH per kilogram.

“After the decline during the harvest, prices will typically begin to rise gradually. In the winter period, the price of apples may increase to 70–80 UAH/kg. At the same time, the next season promises to be more stable, which should reduce the risks of repeating this year’s price records,” explains Volodymyr Pechko.

Experts note that in 2025, the situation in the apple market may be more stable, and a repetition of this year’s price fluctuations is not expected. This gives hope for a more predictable situation for consumers and producers.
