Price Dynamics and Changes in Sowing Structure

Analysts note that the 2024/25 season is proving successful for Ukrainian agricultural producers — prices for major grain crops have increased by almost one and a half times, allowing for improved profitability compared to the previous season. A particularly significant rise is observed in the corn market.

Due to high margins, it is expected that the area planted with corn in 2025 will increase by 4–5% compared to last year’s figures. Competition for areas planted with spring crops traditionally occurs between corn and sunflowers. Experts emphasize that sunflower sowing may also rise, as demand for it remained very high throughout the season, with prices reaching peak levels that were nearly 60% higher than the starting prices.

At the same time, the situation with soybeans appears to be the opposite. A record harvest of this crop both in Ukraine and globally did not yield the desired profitability, which has reduced its investment attractiveness for farmers.

Yield and Export Potential Forecasts

According to “UkrAgroConsult,” if the weather and adversaries do not interfere, the grain and oilseed harvest in 2025 may exceed last year’s figures by 5-10%, indicating an increase in export potential.

Furthermore, the increase in forward prices for the new harvest by 20–35% compared to last year creates conditions for a significant increase in export revenue in the upcoming season. This will have a positive impact not only on the agricultural sector but also on the economy of Ukraine as a whole.
