Price Trends and Global Market Situation
Despite an improved balance in the global barley market for the 2025/26 season compared to the previous marketing year, tender prices from major importers remain high. In recent months, increasing demand and limited supply have supported a trend of rising prices. However, the arrival of Australian barley is expected to cool the markets and stabilize prices in the near future.
Despite the improvement in the global barley balance for the 2025/26 marketing year compared to the previous season, demand prices in tenders from major importers have continued to rise in recent months due to limited supply, but the emergence of Australian barley in the near future is expected to cool the markets.
Grain agencies from other countries are also actively conducting purchases. For instance, on November 27, the Tunisian Grain Agency (ODC) purchased 75,000 tons of feed barley at an average price of $269.14 per ton on C&F terms, which is $4.64 higher than the previous tender on November 7 ($264.5 per ton C&F).
On December 11, ODC again entered the market to purchase 125,000 tons of feed barley (5 batches of 25,000 tons), which are to be shipped from January 10 to February 20, 2026. The supplies will be provided by Bunge, and the contract price was set at $269.12 per ton C&F.
Additionally, in the same tender, 125,000 tons of soft food wheat were purchased at an average price of $256.47 per ton C&F and 100,000 tons of hard wheat at a price of $319.7 per ton C&F.
