Global Soybean Meal Production in the USA, Brazil, and Argentina Will Increase in 2026

This is reported by AgroReview
Analysts from Oil World (Germany) forecast a significant increase in soybean meal production in the three leading producing countries — the USA, Argentina, and Brazil — during the period from April to September 2026. The total production volume of this product is expected to rise by 1.8 million tons compared to the same period last year, reaching 68.9 million tons. The main factor driving this growth will be increased domestic consumption of soybean meal in the USA.
Production Dynamics and Domestic Market Trends
In the United States, soybean processing is growing faster than the rate of increase in livestock production. This indicates a gradual displacement of other feed crops by soybean meal. The projected production volume for the period from April to September 2026 is expected to be 27.2 million tons, which is 1.12 million tons more than the previous year.
Brazil is also expected to see an increase in production — volumes may reach 24.02 million tons compared to 23.28 million tons in the previous period. Argentina, on the other hand, will show a slight decline: a forecast of 17.66 million tons is expected compared to 17.71 million tons last year.
Export Prospects and Regional Competition
“In the second half of the season (April–September), exports from the three countries are expected to increase to 37.37 million tons (+1.17 million tons). Analysts anticipate intensified competition between North and South America, which will put pressure on global prices.”
In the first six months of the 2025/26 season (October–March), soybean meal production in the USA, Brazil, and Argentina increased by 1.6 million tons, reaching 64.5 million tons. The USA achieved a record result of 28.91 million tons, while Argentina reduced its output to 14.13 million tons.
- USA: shipment volumes are expected to rise to 8.75 million tons (last year — 8.08 million tons).
- Brazil: exports will increase to 12.96 million tons (last year — 12.27 million tons).
- Argentina: will export 15.66 million tons, slightly less than the previous figure of 15.85 million tons.
Since the beginning of the season (October–March), the total export of soybean meal from the three countries has reached 33.8 million tons. The decline in supply from Argentina by 1 million tons was fully compensated by record shipments from the USA, which increased by 1 million tons.
