Red-Listed Plant and Its Significance
Adonis is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, indicating its high conservation value. However, despite this value, the plant faces numerous threats, such as land cultivation, afforestation, and mass digging for horticultural purposes.
Use of Adonis in Medicine
Adonis contains cardiac glycosides, which allows for its use in medicine. However, cultivating this plant in artificial conditions is quite challenging, as it does not adapt well and tends to perish.
Experts are working on breeding Adonis in specially created conditions, particularly in the Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden, where measures are being taken to preserve this unique species.
