Details of the Forecast for Major Crops

Wheat production, according to updated data, may reach 19.9 million tons, which is 14% less than this year. In contrast, the forecast for corn has been increased by 2% — to 31.5 million tons. Barley harvest, according to expert estimates, may decrease by 4% and reach 5.2 million tons.

“All changes occurred due to adjustments in the sown areas for spring grains against the backdrop of rising production costs following increases in fuel, plant protection products, and fertilizers,” experts summarized.

Export Potential for the New Season

Despite the decrease in the harvest forecast, the export potential for grains for the 2026/27 marketing year remains at last month’s level — 42 million tons. This is 10% more than in the 2025/26 marketing year, due to high carryover stocks of grain from the current season.
