Grain Production in Turkey Significantly Decreased in 2025
The total harvest of major grain crops in Turkey saw a significant reduction in 2025. According to official data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), wheat production fell to 17.9 million tons, which is 13.7% less than in 2024.

Decline in Yield of Major Grain Crops
The significant reduction also affected other leading crops. Barley production decreased by 25.9%, totaling 6 million tons. Corn production also saw a decline: this year’s figure stands at 8.5 million tons, which is 4.9% lower than last year.
Increase in Grain Imports to Turkey
Due to the poor harvest, Turkey is forced to increase its grain imports. In the first four months of the current season, the country imported 1,432.3 thousand tons of wheat, exceeding last year’s level by 28%.
