According to data from the EastFruit Trade Platform, the number of announcements has increased by 10% compared to the previous period. The main reason for this is the rise in commodity supply from Uzbekistan. Activity has also increased among participants from Ukraine, Egypt, and Iran, with new offers emerging from Albania and the Netherlands. A total of 10 countries have utilized the platform’s services, and the top five countries by the number of posted announcements are: Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Iran, and Poland.
Trends in the Fruit and Vegetable Markets
In the trading group last week, the highest sales were of white cabbage, the supply of which has increased. The main suppliers are Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Macedonia, with cabbage exports from Albania rising by 71%. There is also an increase in offers for table beets, carrots, and onions. The first offers of new crop onions from Uzbekistan have appeared, and farmers in Ukraine are increasing sales of radishes and cucumbers.
The fruit segment remains weak, with a predominant supply of apples, the number of announcements for which has increased. The first offers of garden strawberries from Uzbekistan and Greece have emerged. Importantly, Azerbaijan has allowed the import of fresh fruits from Israel.
Prices for Fruit and Vegetable Products
Price analysis for vegetables in Ukraine shows that they are decreasing again. Despite limited supply, potato prices are falling, carrot prices continue to decline, and table beets are being sold cheaper than before. Tomato prices are rapidly decreasing, and greenhouse cucumbers have started to drop in price after a three-week increase. The radish market is also experiencing a price drop due to increased supply.
In Uzbekistan, on the contrary, pear prices have risen, while orange prices have decreased. The first batches of new crop onions are being offered at an average price of 5,000 sums ($0.39), which is a significant increase compared to last year.
In Egypt, export prices for fruits and vegetables remain stable, and the supply of frozen strawberries to the Dominican Republic has doubled.
