Innovations and Leadership of Ukraine at Apimondia 2025: A New Era for Global Beekeeping
Global beekeeping is experiencing rapid development thanks to the implementation of modern biotechnologies, digital solutions, and a focus on environmental sustainability. This was confirmed by the International Congress Apimondia 2025, held in Copenhagen. The main topics of the forum included bee health, product quality, and environmental conservation.

Symbiosis of Science and Technology in Modern Beekeeping
As noted by Roman Dvykalyuk, Chairman of the Board of the NGO “BeesAgro Managed Pollination Association” and bronze medalist of the World Beekeeping Awards 2025, the industry is increasingly integrating scientific achievements, biotechnologies, and digital solutions. Monitoring systems for hive conditions, probiotic agents to improve bee health, and modern apitherapy methods are becoming an integral part of the sector.
“Beekeeping is increasingly becoming an interdisciplinary science. And Ukraine has a significant advantage because we have a strong natural sciences education and practical experience from beekeepers,” emphasizes Roman Dvykalyuk. “At Apimondia, Ukraine demonstrated that it can be a scientific and innovative hub in Europe and in beekeeping. Our booth was among the leaders, and in my opinion, one of the most visited.”
Ukrainian Technological Innovations at Apimondia 2025
Among the Ukrainian developments that attracted particular attention at Apimondia 2025 was the “Antiklish” wax foundation by Valeriy Dombrovskiy. This biologically active material helps reduce the Varroa destructor mite load on bee colonies without the use of chemical agents.
Another significant innovation was a device for extracting propolis from elastic collection materials, developed by Roman Dvykalyuk. He received a bronze medal in the technological innovations category at the World Beekeeping Awards 2025. The device allows for quick and even cleaning of the elastic mesh after its use in the hive, significantly simplifying the preparation for reuse.
The successes of Ukrainian beekeepers and scientists at Apimondia 2025 confirmed that Ukraine is confidently strengthening its position among the leaders of global beekeeping, combining deep scientific traditions with innovative technologies.
