The era of large elevators capable of holding over one hundred thousand tons is a thing of the past. Today, it is time to focus on building storage facilities in small farming enterprises.

This was discussed in an interview by Oleksandr Yatsyk, the director of “Tornum Ukraine”. He noted that the company “Tornum” has many positive examples from Sweden, where farmers unite and jointly invest in drying complexes.

“Such practices allow for a quicker increase in economic efficiency. The sooner Ukrainian farmers start implementing joint projects, the faster they will become competitive in both domestic and global markets,” emphasized Oleksandr Yatsyk.

Yatsyk also highlighted that after the opening of the land market, there were concerns that agribusinesses would push small farmers out. However, this did not happen: the number of farming enterprises has not decreased; on the contrary, farmers are actively expanding their land assets. Even today, there are examples of successful small elevator and processing plant establishments.

“The whole world is moving towards creating value-added products, so it is quite logical that this trend will gain momentum in Ukraine sooner or later,” Yatsyk stated.

Despite the challenges of war, agrarians are striving to enhance the efficiency of their enterprises.
