The automation of microgreens production is quite costly, as it encompasses all stages, starting from automatic irrigation of plants and automatic lighting, to automatic sowing. However, in Kyiv, there are plans to transition a vertical farm specializing in microgreens from manual operation to automated.

This is reported by AgroReview

Co-owner of TM Green&Vitamin CityFarm, Oleksandr Bilyak, noted that currently, the irrigation of plants is mostly done manually, while lighting is automated according to a schedule.

“We plan to install special sensors with screens that will display temperature, irrigation amounts, lighting mode, and ventilation. All these processes will be automatically regulated. Automation will be implemented both in production and in the warehouse. Two special systems will operate, integrated into one, which will control all necessary processes,” explains Oleksandr Bilyak.

Today, the enterprise has an urgent need for investments to improve technology in order to achieve maximum productivity and set up the second production line. The greenhouse owners intend to expand their product range and establish cooperation with restaurants, as well as engage in exports.
