In Kyrgyzstan, the corn harvest increased in 2025, while wheat and barley yields decreased
According to the results of the 2025 season, a grain harvest was collected from most of the sown areas in Kyrgyzstan; however, the total grain volume turned out to be lower compared to last year. As reported by the Statistical Committee, the average yield of grain crops also decreased, which affected the overall dynamics of agricultural production in the country.

Dynamics of the harvest of main crops
Despite the overall decline in total grain harvest, positive results were recorded for corn, rice, vegetable, fruit and berry, and melon crops. The increase in the harvest of these crops compensated for partial losses in other agricultural segments.
At the same time, analysts note a decrease in the production of wheat, barley, sugar beets, tobacco, cotton, oilseeds, legumes, and potatoes. The main reasons for the decline in yields were unfavorable weather conditions and other factors affecting agricultural production.
Impact on the agricultural sector and further steps
Experts emphasize that although some crops have lost ground, the growth in the production of corn, vegetables, and fruit and berry crops allows for maintaining the potential to ensure food security in Kyrgyzstan.
“The Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that yield indicators will be taken into account during the planning of sowing campaigns and support for farmers in 2026.”
The government plans to use the data obtained to improve strategies for supporting farmers and enhancing the effectiveness of future sowing campaigns.
