Over 550 Thousand Hectares of Grain Crops Planted in Ukraine
As of March 28, 2025, farmers across all regions of Ukraine have planted 551.8 thousand hectares of spring grains and leguminous crops. The sowing of sugar beets and soybeans has also begun.

Currently, the largest area of sowing is allocated to barley — 315.5 thousand hectares. Spring wheat has already been sown on 79.8 thousand hectares, peas on 102.9 thousand hectares, and oats on 50.7 thousand hectares.
Leading Regions in Sowing
Among the regions demonstrating the highest sowing rates, the following stand out:
- Mykolaiv Region: 60.1 thousand hectares (wheat — 3 thousand hectares, barley — 32 thousand hectares, peas — 24.5 thousand hectares, oats — 0.6 thousand hectares);
- Ternopil Region: 58.1 thousand hectares (wheat — 14 thousand hectares, barley — 36.8 thousand hectares, peas — 3.7 thousand hectares, oats — 3.6 thousand hectares);
- Vinnytsia Region: 53 thousand hectares (wheat — 10.4 thousand hectares, barley — 34.5 thousand hectares, peas — 7 thousand hectares, oats — 1.1 thousand hectares);
- Kirovohrad Region: 48.8 thousand hectares (wheat — 1.5 thousand hectares, barley — 29.7 thousand hectares, peas — 16.5 thousand hectares);
- Volyn Region: 47 thousand hectares (wheat — 9 thousand hectares, barley — 14 thousand hectares, peas — 4 thousand hectares, oats — 20 thousand hectares).
As of now, sugar beets have already been sown on an area of 17.8 thousand hectares, and soybeans on 0.6 thousand hectares.
Forecasts for 2025
In total, over 5.7 million hectares of spring grains and leguminous crops are planned to be sown in 2025, which corresponds to the figures for 2024. An important feature of the new season is the increase in the area under spring wheat by 28%, to 222.8 thousand hectares. These changes in the structure of sowing are driven by stable demand for wheat from processing enterprises and exporters.
The further development of the grain and oil market in Ukraine and the Black Sea region is planned to be discussed at the 23rd International Conference, which will take place on April 24 in Kyiv.
