From January to September 2025, nearly 90% of imported cheese to Ukraine came from six countries. Poland emerged as the leader, accounting for 47% of all imported cheeses. Germany took the second position with a share of 15%. Approximately 30% is collectively attributed to the Netherlands, Latvia, Italy, and France.

Price Decrease and Its Impact on Ukrainian Producers
“In recent months, European prices for major types of cheese have decreased by about a quarter, significantly altering the price dynamics in the market. As a result, imported products are currently being sold in Ukraine at much lower prices than domestically produced cheeses. This creates additional pressure on Ukrainian producers. The main factor behind the increase in cheese imports can be considered the lost price competition to European countries,” believes Olga Kozak.
Thus, the decrease in European cheese prices has contributed to the expansion of their supply to Ukraine, intensifying competition in the domestic market and affecting the positions of Ukrainian producers.
