In November 2025, the Ukrainian market is experiencing a decline in the growth of prices for greenhouse tomatoes. For the first time in a long period, the supply of tomatoes has exceeded demand. By the end of the week, wholesale prices for this vegetable have decreased by an average of 13% compared to last Friday — now they range from 70 to 80 UAH per kilogram.

Reasons for the Decrease in Tomato Prices

According to analysts, the key factors contributing to the drop in tomato prices are a sharp decline in demand and a decrease in the quality of the products available on the market. In recent weeks, sellers had anticipated further price increases and held back significant batches of vegetables in hopes of achieving higher profits. However, this strategy has led to a deterioration in the quality of the tomatoes.

“Wholesale prices in Ukraine for greenhouse tomatoes at the end of the week are 70-80 UAH/kg, which is on average 13% cheaper than last Friday.”

The Market Situation and Prices in Supermarkets

Most greenhouse farms have already completed the harvest for the current cycle. Some producers are forced to sell remaining batches of tomatoes, the quality of which is rated below average. Although the supply of vegetables has somewhat decreased, the drop in demand has proven to be even more significant.

Currently, the price of Ukrainian greenhouse tomatoes is nearly equal to last year’s level. Experts predict that the trend of decreasing prices may continue.

In Ukrainian supermarkets, prices for tomatoes remain varied. In particular, at Varus, bulk tomatoes are currently sold at a discount for 89.9 UAH per kilogram. In Silpo, a kilogram of Ukrainian tomatoes costs 127.6 UAH, while in the ATB chain, it is 99.89 UAH/kg.
