Prices for Greenhouse Tomatoes in Ukraine Rise to Record Levels Due to Reduced Imports
The Ukrainian market has seen a rapid increase in prices for greenhouse tomatoes. The reason for this is a significant shortage of supply in this segment, allowing sellers to raise their selling prices. Turkey remains the leader among tomato suppliers during the winter period; however, in recent weeks, the volume of imported Turkish tomatoes has noticeably decreased.

Current Price Situation in the Market
According to operational monitoring data, greenhouse tomatoes are currently being sold in the wholesale segment at prices ranging from 90 to 110 UAH per kilogram (equivalent to $2.09–$2.55 per kilogram). This is 12% higher than at the end of last week. At the same time, sellers are refraining from further significant price increases due to low demand from wholesale companies and retail chains.
“It should be noted that greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine are currently sold on average at 10% higher prices than in mid-January 2025. Meanwhile, many market participants agree that this price situation in this segment is temporary. They do not rule out that tomatoes may start to decrease in price again next week after the normalization of supplies of Turkish products to the Ukrainian market.”
Forecasts for Future Price Dynamics
Most experts and market participants believe that the current price increase is a temporary phenomenon. It is expected that after the restoration of stable supplies of Turkish tomatoes, prices may decrease in the near future. Thus, the situation in the tomato market remains dynamic and depends on import flows.
