In Ukraine, there has been a significant increase in prices for table beets this week. According to analytics, this trend is attributed to a reduction in the supply of quality products, as confirmed by domestic producers. At the same time, demand from wholesale buyers and retail chains for beets is rising.

Reduction in Supply and Increase in Prices

As of early January 2026, producers are selling table beets at a price of 5–10 UAH/kg (equivalent to $0.12–0.23/kg). This is nearly 19% higher than at the end of the previous working week. Market participants explain the price increase by a significant reduction in supply: sales of root vegetables from unregulated storage have practically ended, and the volume of non-standard vegetables on the market has decreased. As a result, producers have been able to raise prices for quality products.

Price Dynamics and Market Prospects

It is worth noting that the current price of table beets remains 49% lower than during the same period last year. This situation gives the market reason to consider the price increase as a temporary phenomenon. Experts do not rule out that further price increases may encourage farmers to sell root vegetables from storage more actively, leading to an increase in supply and, consequently, a possible stabilization or even decrease in prices in the segment.
