Prices of Greenhouse Tomatoes in Ukraine Increased by 14% in a Week
In Ukraine, there is a rapid increase in prices for greenhouse tomatoes. As of October 2025, domestic producers are selling the vegetable at a price of 80–90 UAH per kilogram, which is equivalent to 1.91–2.15 USD per kilogram. This is 14% more expensive compared to the previous week.

Reasons for the Shortage of Ukrainian Greenhouse Tomatoes
- Ukrainian greenhouse producers supply vegetables in limited batches, and the stability of supplies remains low.
- Some farms have already completed the sale of their current season’s products, leading to reduced volumes in the market.
- In stationary greenhouses, the ripening of tomatoes is significantly slowed down due to the cold weather, and supplies from greenhouse farms have completely ceased.
- Imported products are unable to fully compensate for the shortage of local vegetables.
“The price increase of the vegetable has resulted in greenhouse tomato prices in Ukraine being on average 22% higher than at the end of October last year. If today’s sales pace continues, producers are looking to further raise prices.”
Price Situation in Supermarkets
In Ukrainian retail chains, prices for tomatoes also remain high. In particular, in the Varus chain, a kilogram of vegetables costs 119.90 UAH, in ATB — 99.89 UAH, and in Silpo, prices start from 79.50 UAH per kilogram.
Experts predict that under the current market situation, the price of tomatoes may continue to rise.
