Prices of Greenhouse Tomatoes in Ukraine Rise Due to Decreased Supply
Ukrainian greenhouse farms began to raise their wholesale prices for tomatoes this week. The reason for this is a significant reduction in the supply of tomatoes in the market, while demand remains consistently high. According to producers, the decrease in vegetable harvests in greenhouses is linked to the cool weather prevailing across the country.

Current Prices and Influencing Factors
As of now, greenhouse tomatoes are being sold at prices ranging from 50 to 60 UAH per kilogram (equivalent to $1.20–1.57/kg). This is 51% higher compared to the end of last week. Sellers explain this trend by the reduced volume of products entering the market. In particular, most small producers have nearly completed their main sales and are offering tomatoes only in small wholesale quantities, often with low quality. In stationary greenhouses, a decrease in harvest volumes is also noted, leading to vegetable distribution in small batches by the processing plants.
Comparison with Last Year and Future Forecasts
Despite the recent price increase, the current average price of tomatoes in Ukraine remains 20% lower than during the same period last year. At the same time, many producers are announcing their intention to raise prices again next week, as demand for tomatoes continues to remain high even after the price hike.
“According to the producers themselves, the harvest of vegetables in greenhouse facilities has noticeably decreased due to the cool weather that has settled across all of Ukraine.”
