Quarantine Established in Kyiv Region Due to Western Corn Rootworm
A quarantine regime has been officially introduced in the Kyiv region, specifically in the Bilozerkivskyi district, due to the detection of the western corn rootworm (Diabrotica). The restrictions cover a total area of 312 hectares, including the villages of Kalennya (282 ha) and Orikhovets (30 ha).

Details of the Quarantine Implementation
According to the decision of the Bilozerkivskyi District State Administration, the quarantine regime has been in effect since October 14, 2025. The following land plots are under restrictions: field No. 5 with an area of 103 ha, field No. 6 — 29 ha, field No. 7 — 86 ha, field No. 8 — 64 ha (all located in the village of Kalennya), as well as field No. 3 with an area of 30 ha in the village of Orikhovets. The owner of these plots is LLC “ELITA.”
Reasons and Scale of Pest Spread
The western corn rootworm is one of the most dangerous pests of corn. Its appearance on large areas of farmland in Kyiv region necessitates the implementation of additional phytosanitary measures to prevent further spread of the pest in the region and to protect the harvest.

Quarantine measures include the establishment of phytosanitary control, the application of special methods to combat the pest, as well as restrictions on the movement of agricultural products from affected areas. Farmers are encouraged to cooperate with specialists for effective mitigation of the threat.
