Over the past week, there has been a significant increase in demand for railway transportation of grain crops in Ukraine. This market revival is linked to the activation of sender activities, driven by the stabilization of the market situation, as well as preparations for the start of the new export season.

Increase in Tariffs Amidst Logistics Activation

Against the backdrop of rising demand, an increase in railway transportation tariffs has been recorded. The cost of transporting grain in various directions has risen by 1–4 US dollars per ton. The main factors for this increase are the overload of key logistics hubs and the rise in demand on certain routes, leading to an uneven distribution of transport capacities.

The current tariff dynamics demonstrate a recovery of logistical activity in the grain market. This could serve as a foundation for establishing a stable flow of cargo, provided there is further stabilization of foreign trade and transport infrastructure.

Current Market Rates for Grain Transportation

According to analytical data, today the tariffs for railway transportation of grain across Ukraine range as follows:

  • Zhytomyr region – border: 18–22 US dollars per ton, port: 20–24 US dollars per ton;
  • Chernihiv region – border: 19–23 US dollars per ton, port: 21–24 US dollars per ton;
  • Cherkasy region – border: 20–25 US dollars per ton, port: 17–23 US dollars per ton;
  • Ternopil region – border: 13–15 US dollars per ton, port: 18–25 US dollars per ton.

For export shipments to Europe, the following rates apply today:

  • Chop – northeastern Italy: 39–40 euros per ton;
  • Dorohusk – northwestern Germany: 38–43 euros per ton;
  • Dorohusk – western Netherlands: 40–49 euros per ton.

“The current tariff dynamics indicate a recovery of logistical activity in the grain market, which could contribute to the formation of a stable cargo flow in the context of gradual stabilization of foreign trade and logistical infrastructure.”
