Current Situation with Prices and Supply

The start of the melon season in 2025 is occurring at the same time as last year. However, there is currently a limited amount of product available on the market – only a few farms are offering large volumes.

The majority of watermelon sales are taking place at a price of 20-28 UAH per kilogram, but for now, the volumes of supply remain small.

“At the same time, prices for the first batches of watermelons are, on average, 10% higher than at the beginning of last season.”

Market Expectations and Farmers’ Forecasts

According to market participants, mass sales of watermelons in Ukraine will begin closer to mid-July, when more local producers will enter the market. Farmers predict a possible significant decrease in watermelon prices in the near future due to an increase in the supply of melon crops.

It was previously reported that local blueberries have already appeared on the Ukrainian market, with prices 2.6 times higher than last year’s. Additionally, last week there was a sharp decline in cherry prices due to the deterioration of fruit quality, which was caused by unfavorable weather conditions.
