  • 1 fresh mackerel
  • 0.5 liters of water
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 5 black peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon of vinegar

Method for Preparing Quick Pickled Mackerel

  1. Clean the mackerel, remove the skin and backbone, and rinse thoroughly.
  2. In a pot, bring the water to a boil, then add salt, sugar, bay leaves, and pepper. Boil the brine for an additional 2 minutes after it reaches a boil.
  3. Allow the brine to cool completely. After cooling, add the vinegar and mix well.
  4. Pour the brine over the fish and seal tightly with a lid. Leave to marinate in the refrigerator at a temperature of about 4°C.
  5. After a day, cut the fillet into serving pieces and serve. The fish can be eaten just 24 hours after pickling.
