Soybean Yield Forecast in Brazil for 2025/26 Increased to a Record 182.2 Million Tons

Brazil is preparing for a record soybean harvest in the 2025/26 marketing year. According to updated estimates from the analytical company Agroconsult, production volumes could reach 182.2 million tons. This is 4 million tons higher than the previous forecast released in November and 10.1 million tons more compared to last season.

Increase in Forecast and Reasons for Growth

The increase in the forecast is linked to improved yields: the latest data indicates a yield of 62.3 bags per hectare, which is higher than the previous estimate of 60.8 bags. Agroconsult emphasizes that the calculations are based on the results of a large-scale field expedition that covered 14 states in Brazil and began last week.

“The tour started under extremely favorable conditions. Over the past ten years, this is one of the best starts to the season, as there are currently no systemic or chronic issues that could significantly impact the harvest,” said expedition coordinator Andre Debastiani.

Crop Conditions in Key Regions

In the state of Mato Grosso, the leading soybean producer in the country, the expected yield is 65 bags per hectare. Although this is slightly lower than last year’s figure, the result is considered positive given the rainfall deficit at the beginning of the season. The neighboring region of Mato Grosso do Sul is showing even better results than in the previous two years, with a yield of 61.5 bags per hectare.

In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, where weather has negatively impacted yields in recent years, farmers this season can expect to harvest around 52 bags per hectare. This is 14.5 bags more than previous estimates. Agroconsult experts suggest that favorable weather conditions in February and March could provide a basis for further increases in the soybean yield forecast for Brazil.
