Features of This Year’s Sugar Production Campaign
According to Yana Kavushevskaya, head of the board of the National Association of Sugar Producers “Ukrtsukor”, the area planted with sugar beets in Ukraine in 2025 amounted to 199 thousand hectares. The average yield was 58 tons per hectare, allowing for the collection of 11.4 million tons of beets. A total of 10.8 million tons of raw materials have already been delivered to the 27 sugar factories operating in the 2025/26 marketing year, although the delivery of beets to the factories is still ongoing.
“According to our expectations, sugar production in the 2025/26 MY will exceed 1.7 million tons,” she said.
Domestic Consumption and Sugar Exports
Yana Kavushevskaya also reminded that previously, before the start of the full-scale war, domestic sugar consumption in Ukraine was 1.2–1.3 million tons. Under current conditions, this figure has decreased by 300–400 thousand tons, so to support the industry in the 2025/26 MY, it is desirable to export at least 700 thousand tons of sugar. The expert added that the geography of Ukrainian sugar exports in 2026 is likely to remain unchanged.
