In the farm of LLC “SEYM AGRO” in the Sumy region, they plan to significantly increase the area dedicated to high-oleic sunflower, allocating 500-600 hectares from the available 2,000 hectares for this crop. This was announced by the owner of the company, Yegor Sklyarov, during an online meeting of the High-Oleic Club 2025.

Experience in Cultivation and Future Plans

According to Yegor Sklyarov, they have been engaged in the cultivation of high-oleic sunflower for eight years. Initially, they maintained a 50:50 ratio between conventional and high-oleic sunflower, but this year they plan to sow 100% of the area with this crop.

Economic Viability and Cultivation Technologies

The owner notes that high-oleic sunflower is currently the most profitable crop on the farm, surpassing others in yield and premium levels. “This year, high-oleic sunflower has become the number one crop in terms of profitability, significantly ahead of other crops. In terms of yield and premium, the farm earned 18,000 hryvnias more per hectare than when growing conventional sunflower,” he emphasizes.

Yegor Sklyarov adds that “the soil-climatic conditions and modern technologies allow for similar yields of both conventional and high-oleic sunflower. Moreover, high-oleic sunflower does not require additional costs during the cultivation process and has a similar cost price to conventional sunflower”.

The discussion on the development of grain and oil markets in Ukraine and the Black Sea region will take place during the 23rd International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV, scheduled for April 24 in Kyiv. This will serve as a platform for strategic discussions and networking in the industry.
