Sunflower Prices in Ukraine Exceed 30,000 UAH/T: Is It Worth Selling Now
In Ukraine, sunflower prices with an oil content of 46–50% have surpassed the psychological barrier of 30,000 UAH/T at the beginning of April 2026 and remain consistently high. Farmers, noting the rising costs, are holding back on sales, hoping for further increases; however, this strategy carries certain risks.

Market Situation for Sunflowers and Risks for Farmers
Current purchase prices for sunflowers are 29,900–30,400 UAH/T EXW, the highest level since the beginning of the season. The main driver of this increase has been sunflower oil: on the global spot market, its price has reached 1,280–1,300 USD per ton DAP port, and processors are already signing contracts for the new harvest at a price of 550 USD per ton.
Farmers are temporarily benefiting from holding back sales; however, due to a shortage of raw materials, some factories are considering the option of temporarily shutting down until the new harvest is collected. The reduction in the number of operational enterprises will lead to decreased competition and, consequently, lower offering prices.
Harvest Prospects and Price Formation in Autumn
In addition to the current balance of supply and demand, the market will also be influenced by the projected expansion of sunflower acreage in the 2026/27 season. It is estimated that plantings could increase to 6.1 million hectares, promising a significant increase in supply by autumn and additional pressure on prices.
“Conclusion for farmers: the current level of 30,000+ is comfortable for locking in. Waiting for significantly higher prices until August is risky.”
