Sunflower Seed Exports from Argentina Reach Record Levels in 2025/26 Marketing Year
In December 2025, sunflower seed exports from Argentina increased to 63,000 tons, with active shipments of the product continuing into early 2026. The main shipments of Argentine oilseeds in December were directed to countries in the Black Sea region, along with minor deliveries to the Republic of South Africa and the European Union.

Export Forecasts for 2026
According to analytical estimates, sunflower seed exports from Argentina could reach 400,000 tons from January to March 2026, and an additional 290,000 tons from April to June. Overall, in the 2025/26 marketing season, the total export of oilseeds from the country is expected to be approximately 860,000 tons, with the majority of the product being supplied to the aforementioned regions.
Export Dynamics and Global Trends
It is noted that in September-October 2025/26 marketing year, total sunflower seed exports from Argentina exceeded last year’s figures by more than double: 460,000 tons compared to 133,000 tons in the same period of the previous year.
“The USDA’s first report of the new year forecasts a sunflower deficit and a soybean surplus in the 2025/26 season. Global oilseed production is estimated at 52.1 million tons. The largest reduction is expected in Ukraine: -2.5 million tons (-19.2%).”
