Teacher from Bukovina Starts Sheep Farm with Grant Funding

A teacher from Bukovina, Olesya Palamaryuk, has established her own sheep farm with the support of a government grant, which will contribute to the development of local agriculture and provide the population with high-quality products. This was reported by the Chernivtsi Regional Employment Center.

According to the farmer, she received financial support under the program “Grant for Veterans and Their Families.” Her husband, who recently demobilized from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has joined the project and will assist in managing the farm.

Plans and Goals of the Farmer

Olesya Palamaryuk emphasizes that the favorable climate, rich pastures, and her knowledge in sheep farming will be the key to the successful development of the farm. The main goal is to provide the population with high-quality lamb, meet the demand for craft cheeses, and actively sell sheep wool.

The farmer used the grant funds to purchase the necessary equipment and tools for animal care, feed preparation, and product storage. Nearly half of the funding went towards acquiring purebred Romanov sheep, with the dream of increasing the breeding stock to 100 heads.

“My dream is a family farm of European standards, with no analogs or competitors in our area at this time. I plan to create a mini-farm for producing meat, wool, and cheese from sheep’s milk,” said Olesya Palamaryuk.

Future Plans and Farm Development

There are also plans to open a cheese factory for producing cheese from sheep’s milk. In the future, the development of green tourism is envisioned, allowing tourists to visit the farm, observe the production process, and purchase finished products, which will promote the region and increase the income of local residents.
