The Cost of Rapeseed Processing in Ukraine Increased More Than Twice in 2025
According to the results of the July–December 2025 season, Ukraine exported 1.359 million tons of rapeseed. At the same time, the volume of domestic processing of the crop amounted to 870 thousand tons, leaving over 1 million tons of potential exports with a total harvest of 3.2 million tons.

Dynamics of Rapeseed Processing and Export
Compared to last year, when only 200 thousand tons were directed for processing with an equivalent harvest, and 2.8 million tons for export, this year’s processing volume has significantly increased. However, this occurred against the backdrop of a sharp rise in processing costs.
“The processing cost for producers has more than doubled this year, sharply reducing its competitiveness,” experts state.
Experts note that the introduction of an export duty along with changes in logistics chains has also affected market activity and the sales structure of rapeseed.
Changes in Foreign Trade and Prices
In the 2025/26 season, rapeseed imports to EU countries decreased from 3.23 million to 1.85 million tons, a reduction of 43%. Despite this, Ukraine maintained its leadership in supply volumes, although its share decreased from 62% to 57% (1.06 million tons).
The volumes of rapeseed meal exports significantly increased — from 220.9 to 527.7 thousand tons (a 139% rise). Meanwhile, Canada became the dominant exporting country, covering 77% of the market, while Ukraine’s share decreased from 75% to 13%.
Contract prices for Ukrainian non-GMO ISCC rapeseed in February at the MATIF exchange were around €14 CIF Bulgaria with a €30 discount for supplies to Constanța and at parity to MATIF for deliveries to Germany.
