The Sowing Campaign for Spring Crops in Poltava Region Completed on an Area of 1.4 Million Hectares

The sowing of spring agricultural crops has been completed in the Poltava region. According to the information from the Department of Agricultural Development of the Poltava Regional State Administration, this year all categories of farms have sown 1.4 million hectares, of which 557.3 thousand hectares are allocated for grain and leguminous crops, and 707 thousand hectares for technical crops.

Structure of Sown Areas for Main Crops
As a result of the spring sowing campaign in Poltava, the areas for the main crops are distributed as follows:
- corn for grain — 455.1 thousand hectares;
- sunflower — 384.4 thousand hectares;
- soybean — 286.2 thousand hectares;
- barley — 69.1 thousand hectares;
- sugar beet — 27.1 thousand hectares;
- millet — 9.9 thousand hectares;
- peas — 9.6 thousand hectares;
- buckwheat — 2.1 thousand hectares.
Condition of Crops and Timing of Work
“Sowing was carried out within optimal agronomic timeframes. Today, the crops are in good and satisfactory condition.”
Experts note that the optimal timing for sowing work has ensured a good start to the vegetation of the plants. The current condition of the crops is assessed as good and satisfactory, which gives grounds to expect a high yield in 2025.
